A Natural Hair Journey
When it comes to maintaining natural hair, finding the right products is a journey that takes time and patience. That’s why the Design Essentials Natural African Chebe Collection caught my attention. This haircare line is specifically tailored for natural hair and aims to provide a comprehensive and efficient solution for all hair needs.
The Collection Breakdown
The Design Essentials Natural African Chebe Collection is comprised of five products:
- Herbal Pre-Wash Intense Repair Masque
- Anti-Breakage Moisture Retention Shampoo
- Anti-Breakage Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner
- Strengthening & Curl Perfecting Mousse
- Braid & Twist-Out Strengthening Creme
Together, these products are designed to provide hydration, protection, and maintenance for natural curls and coils.
The Pros
Starting with The Herbal Pre-Wash Intense Repair Masque, I must say it’s my favorite of the bunch. I applied it to my damp hair, and the slip allowed me to easily detangle my hair with just my fingers. After rinsing, my hair felt soft and my curls were noticeably more defined.
Next, I tried The Anti-Breakage Moisture Retention Shampoo. It lathered up nicely and left my hair feeling clean, soft, and shiny without stripping away the natural oils.
Another standout product in the collection was The Anti-Breakage Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner. It did an exceptional job hydrating and moisturizing my hair, leaving it soft and manageable.
The Cons
Unfortunately, not all items were as impressive.
The Strengthening & Curl Perfecting Mousse didn’t quite live up to its name. Although it was easy to apply, I didn’t get the definition I’m used to, and my hair ended up frizzy after it dried.
Similarly, The Braid & Twist-Out Strengthening Creme left something to be desired. While my hair had an okay definition, I was disappointed to find flakes after my hair dried, which is not the look that I was going for.
Overall Rating and Recommendation
Overall, I would rate the Design Essentials Natural African Chebe Collection a 3.5 out of 5 stars. While some products truly delivered on their promises, others fell short in both definition and maintenance.
I believe that this collection would best suit those seeking effective hydration, cleansing, and pre-styling treatment for their natural hair. However, for complete hair transformation, you might need to incorporate other products to achieve the results you desire.
In my personal journey, I would continue to use the Intense Repair Masque, Moisture Retention Shampoo, and Leave-In Conditioner. However, for added definition and long-lasting styles, I wouldn’t reach for the Curl Perfecting Mousse or Strengthening Creme again.
Overall, while some items met my expectations, the Design Essentials Natural African Chebe Collection wasn’t the comprehensive solution I was hoping for but worth a try for anyone in search of new natural hair products.
